What Does an 8‑Hour Yosemite Elopement Look Like?
Follow Mallory & Adam's half-day adventure in Yosemite National Park —captured by your Yosemite elopement photographer, Gina from Mangiante Photography. Then learn more about what a 12 hour full day elopement in Yosemite National Park could look like!
Sunrise at Glacier Point
Mallory and Adam began their day at Glacier Point where they got to watch the sun rise over Half Dome. It was a quiet, magical moment for some portraits of them before the park started to fill up. Taking in one of Yosemite’s most iconic views was an unforgettable way to start their wedding day.
Unique view of half dome
Just a short drive away, we stopped for a few photos along the road with another stunning angle of Half Dome. I love the carefree feeling of running in the middle of the road with your love that this spot brings!
Tunnel View
This is a classic spot any Yosemite elopement day - this view point is accessible year-round! From this famous viewpoint, you’ll see El Capitan, Bridalveil Fall, and Half Dome all framed together in one sweeping scene. We spent time here capturing portraits that feel both epic and timeless.
Ceremony at Cathedral Beach
Mallory and Adam wanted their ceremony to be at Cathedral Beach so they could have a view of El Capitan as they vowed to spend the rest of their lives together. It was a beautiful and intimate ceremony with a few of their family members to witness.
Portraits in the Valley
Next, we headed deeper into the valley for portraits at a few classic spots:
- Yosemite Chapel – A charming, historic backdrop for a few quiet photos.
- Cook’s Meadow – Wide open views of Half Dome and Yosemite Falls.
- Lower Yosemite Falls Vista Point – A short walk brings you to the base of one of the tallest waterfalls in North America, where mist and granite cliffs create a dramatic setting.
This stretch of the day is about both iconic photos and enjoying the slower in-between moments together. Many couples also choose to plan a romantic picnic during this time. It’s the perfect way to fuel up, slow down, and soak in the scenery. Sharing a meal together makes the day feel more like a celebration and adventure and less like a long photo session.
Why Book a Full-Day (12 hours) Elopement in Yosemite?
Choosing a 12-hour elopement package gives you the space to fully soak in the magic of Yosemite without feeling rushed. With a full day together, we can explore more of the park, build in breaks so the day feels slower and more relaxed, and capture your story in a way that feels like an adventure rather than a photoshoot.
Plus, my full-day package includes a bonus two-hour couples photoshoot the day before or after your elopement. It’s the perfect chance to capture engagement-style portraits in your casual clothes, explore an new location, or simply have more time together in front of the camera in your wedding attire!
Want some more ideas for your own Yosemite Elopement?
- Sunset at Taft Point – Hike out to one of Yosemite’s most breathtaking viewpoints. The trail is only about a mile each way, and the reward is an epic cliffside overlook that pops off at sunset.
- Bike the Valley Loop – Renting bikes is such a fun, lighthearted way to explore the valley floor. It keeps things playful and makes for the cutest candid photos!
- Tuolumne Meadows Adventure – Escape the crowds and discover alpine lakes, wildflowers, and mountain views that feel worlds away from Yosemite Valley.
- Hidden Gems of Yosemite – Beyond the popular spots, I’ll guide you to some quieter, private locations perfect for vows, portraits, or just soaking up the scenery without another soul around.
- Picnic or Champagne Toast – Slowing down for a meal together makes your day feel more intentional and celebratory. It’s one of my favorite ways to weave in romance and relaxation.
With more time during a 12 hour day, your Yosemite elopement becomes less of a schedule to follow and more of an experience to live. Your elopement isn't supposed to feel like one long photoshoot, it's supposed to feel easy, exciting, and focused on your love. I'm there to make sure that happens while capturing every moment along the way! You’ll leave with photos that feel like a true reflection of your whole day—from sunrise to starlight.
