Kirsten and Alec met through a mutual friend (it's the best when friends set you up, right?!). They hit it off right away during a group get together and found moments to break away from the group to get to know each other more. Some life got in the way and caused them to not follow up that amazing night until 5 months later. They went on their first official coffee date that ended up lasting the entire day and they've been together ever since! The rest is history as they say.
I'll let Kirsten share their sweet proposal story, "I was a little suspicious the day Alec proposed. We went to our favorite park, the one we visit several times a week with our dogs, and everything felt perfectly ordinary. It was a beautiful fall Friday afternoon, and surprisingly, no one else was around. Up on a hill under a big tree, Alec popped the question. It was simple, sweet, and in one of our favorite places. Now every time we go back, we get to see “our tree.”
Alec and Kirsten value slow, intimate moments together. From their proposal to their elopement day that has always been the case. When planning their wedding day they knew they didn't want to deal with the stress and expectations that come with big, traditional weddings. They wanted it to be focused on just themselves - taking the day slowly and being truly present with each other was most important for them! Eloping was the perfect decision for them!
Kirsten and Alec enjoyed their elopement day on the coast of California in Carmel-by-the-Sea. They got to experience a beautiful spring day overlooking the ocean from rocky beaches to cliffside meadows. From the small purple and white flowers blanketing the cliffs to the calla lilies filling the valley, spring is a gorgeous time to elope in Carmel!
Their day started with a slow morning getting ready together. Then they made their way to Wedding Rock (aptly named) in Carmel for their vow exchange and portraits. After that we walked over the rocks to a quiet, small beach. Here, they set up some camping chairs and broke out their Diet Pepsi and donuts to take a beat and celebrate!
After their moment soaking in that their dream elopement day in Carmel is playing out right before their eyes, they were ready for some more portraits at the beach. We then made our way down the coast to Calla Lily Valley where we got to experience a gorgeous landscape! Their day ended as they ran around the beach while the sun set over the ocean! It truly couldn't have been more magical!
